Description Ballymena Rfc
Ballymena RFC’s Youth Section is one of the biggest and most vibrant youth sections in Ulster. Recent years have shown remarkable interest in youth rugby within the Ballymena area and the youth section now boasts over 120 young players fielding teams at all age grades. A great deal of effort has been made to enhance the coaching provided and the Club now has 12 youth coaches working with the teams. The coach’s efforts have been rewarded with success on the field and in the selection of young players for Ulster Development Squads and Representative teams. The Under 17s won the 2013/14 Premier League and two of the squad have been selected for the Ulster Under 18 team with one player being taken up to the Under 19 squad. The players come from all schools within the local area including Cullybackey College, St.
Pat’s, Dunclug, Slemish and St. Louis’. In addition to providing rugby coaching the Club also provides the boys with experiences including engaging in cross community projects and attending international games. The aim is to encourage young people to play rugby but in a safe and fun environment. The youth section welcomes new players from every background.
Rugby experience is not necessary as training will be provided. All you need is the desire to play and the commitment to one night’s training each week and the ability to play on a Saturday morning. Should you wish to join the youth section, simply leave a message at the Club for Don Pattison the Club’s Youth Convenor who will furnish you with further details about training and registration. Training Wednesday evenings 7pm - 9pm Matches Saturday mornings (September - May) If you have any questions just contact our Youth Convenor.
